About Us

United For Christ was founded in mid-2004 by William Renfrow.  Mr. Renfrow is the owner and president of Renfrow Brothers Inc., www.renfrowbros.com, an industrial construction company, in Spartanburg, SC.  William has been very involved in Christian activities in the community for many years. The Lord has been steadily bringing people from various walks of life into this ministry since that time – all with a vision of Christian unity and united action.  We have a growing number of Pastors meeting monthly praying and strategizing how to unite and move forward together.  These Pastors include pastors from across all Christian denominations and races.  We have brought Para Church (Compassion Ministries) leaders together and we have monthly meetings with Christian Business and Workplace leaders called the “Bottom Line”. A local group, Educators For Christ, works in partnership with our efforts.  We have a growing number of Prayer Intercessors supporting each step we take.  We sponsored a city-wide “Pray For America” rally and a well-recognized national author, Ken Blanchard, of Lead Like Jesus has recognized our efforts and has offered to assist us going forward.

Our Theme is “Uniting Christians to Transform the Spartanburg Community”.  As Pastors, Churches, ParaChurch/Compassion Ministries, Educators, Youth Leaders and Business Leaders work together in unity, the love of God is expressed.  Practically, we can do much more together than we can do apart.  Jesus prayed for oneness four times in the scripture (John 17:11,21,22,23). Jesus didn’t believe unity was optional.  It is the center of the Son and the Father. It is the key to revealing God worldwide.

“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” - John 17:22,23

The perfect bond of UNITY is love.  The root problem of a lack of unity is a lack of love and caring for one another.  We are the ones who can fulfill the prayer of Jesus in John 17.  We have to make a commitment to walk in love.  Unity with mobilization is key to a sustained spiritual awakening and transformation of our Spartanburg community.

“And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.” - Colossians 3:14

UNITED FOR CHRIST – PURPOSE/MISSION
Our PURPOSE is to bring Pastors, Business/Workplace People, Para Church Leaders, Educators, Senior Citizens, Government Workers, Youth Leaders, and others together in unity – and impact our community and state for Christ.  Our purpose is to “Unite Spartanburg Community For Christ” first and then expand this model to other cities and communities in the state and nation.  We are called to Lead Like Jesus and expand the influence of Christ so that people actively utilize Biblical Values under the Lordship of Christ in all of their life.

UNITED FOR CHRIST – VISION
Being led by the Spirit – Pastors, Business Leaders, Para Church Leaders, Youth Leaders and others in the Spartanburg community work together to impact the city and community for Christ.  Leaders rise above denominational differences to work together to expand the Kingdom of God. The follow-through of the love of Christ results in a progressively transformed community illustrating increased compassion, community, and justice.  Steadily teen pregnancies are reduced, drug use is minimized, the elderly and poor are helped, crime is reduced – the community is being transformed.  Mercy and the gospel become synonymous in the minds of the people of the community.  The people see Christians doing with unity.  This results in a tremendous attraction to the gospel. The media recognizes and reports on the transforming of the community through the unified body of Christ.  Church membership, attendance, and giving for all of Spartanburg Churches combined increases significantly.  Business leaders and people are equipped to live out their faith in the workplace.  A Christ-centered culture and follow-through of Christian values in the Spartanburg workplaces become the norm and not the exception.  A joint Christian communication network is established to rally support for Christian causes and is a center of information for Christian activities in the community.  Youth rallies are widely supported by all churches and the media with large attendance, participation, and many young people coming to the Lord.  Para-church ministries are widely supported by Churches and individuals and provide excellent services to all in need.  Prayer for specific needs in the community becomes common and prayerwalks become the norm. A high percentage of Spartanburg Christians become actively aware of the political position of candidates and regularly vote in all elections based on their Christian values. They remain aware of current issues and routinely communicate with local, state, and national representatives. Politicians recognize the power of the Christian majority vote and steadily enact laws from the basis of Christian values.  Christian values for society progressively become the norm and what is expected by the public.  The model for Spartanburg community spreads to other cities and communities in the state and nation.  The Christian silent majority becomes the Christian active majority. The Kingdom of God is growing.  The Lord smiles!  And says “Good Job – Well Done – Good and Faithful Servant”.
